The Ligurian Ciappe are a typical bakery product result of an exclusive and particular artisanal food processing which gives to the Ciappa a one-of-a-kind taste and fragrance.

The Ligurian Ciappe or the Ciappe from Taggia are the ideal food for those who believe in a healthy and correct diet and research the typical taste of the Ligurian tradition.

For the realisation of our flatbreads we only use natural ingredients and no kind of preservatives or additives. Also, our Ciappe are perfect for those who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet because they do not contain animal fat and any other ingredient of animal origin.

The Ciappe from Taggia represents our flagship product: they are thin and crunchy and they have a golden-brown colour that recalls the typical sunny weather; a trademark of our Liguria.

Ciappe of Taggia: an Authentic Product of the Ligurian Tradition

The name “Ciappa” comes from ancient times and expresses the authentic relationship between human and land: in fact, in the past they used to cover the roof of the Ligurian country-side houses with thin ardesia slates called in dialect “ciappe”.

Thanks to the characteristic thin and flat shape, the ciappa of ardesia (slate) was one of the first cooking methods used in the rural life of that era, and until today, in many foods preparation the tradition implies the use of stone-cooking.

The production area of the authentic Ligurian Ciappe is restricted only for the West-side of Liguria (Ponente Ligure), more precisely in the Village of Taggia, where our company was found.

Ligurian Ciappe Always Fragrant, Tasty and Even More

The Ligurian Ciappe represent a natural and tasty alternative of bread to be brought to the table, but they can be paired with a lot of different types of food.

An ideal aperitif or snack must be done with the Ciappe from Taggia thus can be paired with both savoury and sweet food tasting, as an accompaniment to cheese, jam, ham and chorizo. They are always very pleasant for the palate.

Also if eaten alone, the Ciappe are a delicious savoury snack with a unique taste.

Our Ciappe follows the traditional recipe which means we use few ingredients made of high-quality raw material like flour obtained from the best Italian grain, olive oil; an excellent product for which the Liguria is famous all over the world, the sea salt and the water.
